Update June 7 - we have had more cases in the last week  - please be vigilant! Normally Lambs would be immune at 10 weeks of age but because many lambs have not had a challenge the disease is showing up later

worms are a potent lamb killer and we have had some problems this year

Onset of the disease can be very fast & deaths can occur before eggs appear in the faeces. Highest risk of disease occurs in the Spring in young lambs (4-8 weeks old).

Nematodirus is unique because the larvae can develop into the infective larvae stage within the egg, protecting them from bad weather and ensuring that more survive.

This can lead to a synchronised egg hatch causing a massive challenge

High risk fields are those that were grazed by lambs last year (or even the year before).
