Grass Flush Warning

Grass is really growing after all the rain but this is causing a few problems in Sheep

Foot problems - There are more cases of Scald & Footrot made worse by the long wet grass

Scours - cases of scours which can be nutritional or caused by late infections of Nematodirus or Cocci

Trace element deficiencies - this rapid growth of grass is deficient in micronutrients particularly Cobalt which can cause poor growth rates

Fluke - The wet weather since April will increase the risk of Fluke

Animals grazing fluke habitat now may be picking up metacercariae from the winter infection of snails with disease often seen from July onwards
