Forward Cereal Crops
Conditions this September have been excellent and have allowed for many cereal crops to be planted and where adequate moisture has been present they have established well. These more forward crops will need to be monitored for signs of mildew attack and manganese deficiency. If there is a significant amount of mildew in the crop trials show that there is a potential 0.3t/ha yield increase from applying a mildewicide. Also where Deter seed dressing has not been used it is essential to apply an insecticide to your cereals to protect against BYDV which causes yield losses of up to 30%.
